pureLiFi ran out of cash after a costly switch from licensing its patents to building its own hardware. BTG (Kenny Craig and Kevin Mapstone) were appointed joint administrators on Monday and all 42 staff at the Leith office were made redundant. Twenty of the 35 are engineers or researchers, most with a PhD or more than a decade in optics, RF, embedded or FPGA work. Edinburgh's photonics and defence employers are advertising exactly those skills this month, at £60k to £100k for the RF and electronics roles. That group places fast and pays the best fees. About 8 of the 35 may be on Skilled Worker visas (guess from career history, not confirmed). If so they have 60 days from the redundancy date to find a licensed sponsor, which makes them the most urgent calls and rules out unlicensed small employers. Ask on the first call.
